Best Bikini For Your Body Shape

Best Bikini For Your Body Shape

With summer upon us I decided to dedicate a blog to which bikini suits your body shape. I know that a lot of us have insecurities and wearing a bikini can seem really daunting at least for me it can be anyway, so I just wanted to help make you feel a little more comfortable and confident by wearing a bikini that suits you. Obviously I'm not an expert or anything but these are some tips that I discovered from magazines and stuff, so I hope this helps.

Hour Glass Shape

How you know you have an hour glass shape is when your hips and bust are the same size but you have a smaller waist so that you have the shape of an hour glass of big, small and then big again. I personally have an hour glass shape and the consensus of what I have read and what I found works for me are halter necks bikinis and string bikinis. I found if I wore a string bikini it would have to be from a proper lingerie shop because I have bigger breasts and need the support of the under wire like in a bra and if I can't find a nice string one in a lingerie shop I would just make sure to go for a halter or a bra shaped top in a normal shop. Halter necks will help break up the neckline and balance out your shape. I would definitely recommend a string bottom though because it is more flattering to your hips and elongates your legs. Definitely stay away from those boy shorts because they will just make your hips look bigger and bandeau tops because they will be really unflattering. If you plan on wearing a one piece swimsuit go for a halter neck or a v neck style it'll be more flattering. Celebrities like Scarlett Johansson and Kim Kardashian have hour glass shapes so look at what type of bikinis they wear and they always suit their shape. You can get a suitable bikini here: H&M also do some really nice swimwear a top that really suits hour glass shapes is here: they also have nice bottoms like the ones here: River Island do some really nice one pieces which would be suitable for hour glass shapes like the one here:

Pear Shape

Pear shape is when your hips, thighs and bum are more prominent than your waist or bust, basically your lower body is larger than your upper body. The pear body shape can also be known as a triangular shape. Again I think pear shapes should stick with the string bikini bottoms because it again elongates your legs and you can adjust where it should sit on your hips and again stay away from boy shorts or any block or stocky type bikinis. If you want to cover up then use a light material sarong. For the top I would recommend a bandeau style top will make your bust look bigger so will even out the proportions also frilled or fringed bikinis will add some drama to the bust which will also make it appear larger giving the Marilyn Monroe look and stay away from halter necks. You can get a gorgeous two piece here: H&M do really flattering tops like the one here: Bank also do a great one piece like the one here: Look out for celebrities like Beyonce, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Shakira because they all have pear shaped bodies.

Apple Shape

Apple body shape women appear top heavy with a full upper body with little waist definition, basically the opposite to a pear shape. The apple shape can also be known as an inverted triangle, usually they have great legs and small hips with  bigger breasts or if they don't have bigger breasts they'll have a bigger midriff section. Apple body shapes best suit tankinis which are like tank top with spaghetti straps bikinis which will minimize the midriff if you're uncomfortable showing it off. Bikini bottoms with thick straps or ruffles or boy shorts would suit best also, again like with the hour glass shape if you have a bigger bust I would recommend a bikini with under wire to support the bust. It would suit better to stay away from bandeau styles because they suit people with smaller busts better. Here: is a bikini with under wire and has a thick bottoms, and Bank do this gorgeous one piece here: Watch celebrities like Jennifer Hudson, Angelina Jolie or Catherine Zeta Jones for style tips on how to dress an apple body shape.

Boyish Shape

A boyish shape or a rectangle body shape is when your silhouette is fairly straight with a slight masculine look, it's similar to the hourglass shape but without the waist. If you have a masculine shape I think that the halter high waisted bikinis would suit perfectly because this look would give you the curves that you are worried about missing, if you can't find a high waisted bikini go for bottoms with some form of detail like ruffles. Bandeau style tops will also be great because they will make your bust seem bigger and broaden your frame. You can get a great bikini that's semi high waisted here: River Island do a great high waisted bottom like the one here: Bank also do a great selection of Marilyn Monroe style high waisted bikinis like the bottoms here: Stars like Taylor Swift, Cameron Diaz and Hilary Duff all have the boyish body shape and always look amazing so keep an eye out on their styles for how to flatter your shape.

That's all folks, hope this helped and remember once you feel confident you will look amazing!!

Xoxo
